Matthew is known for challenging the traditional notions of what news, communications, content creation and media can and should be and promoting a more innovative, immersive, and inclusive approach to storytelling.

As the Senior Coordinating Producer for the ABC News Weather, Climate & Science Unit, Matthew leads a team of journalists, producers and meteorologists while overseeing the weather, climate, environmental, science and space coverage across all ABC News network shows and platforms, including Good Morning America, World News Tonight, Nightline, ABC News Live and GMA3. Matthew also works closely with the ABC Owned Television Stations to bring climate coverage to those communities.

Before joining ABC News, Matthew served as the Communications Director for the ASU Learning Transformation Studios, where he helped develop initiatives and programs designed to improve educational opportunities for students and educators.

Prior to his time in academia, Matthew spent nearly a decade as a journalist and news leader at NBCUniversal, most recently as the Director of Storytelling and Managing Editor for NBC's national media network, NBCLX / LX News.

At NBCLX, he led a talented team of storytellers nationwide and oversaw all the network's pre-produced editorial content. His leadership helped NBCLX become a national model for journalism, focusing on authenticity, immersion, and inclusivity. 

Before helping launch NBCLX, Matthew served as Executive Producer of Investigations & Enterprise at NBC Boston and New England Cable News, overseeing the investigative, consumer, health, climate, and features units. Before coming to Boston, Matthew held a similar role as Executive Producer of Special Projects, Politics & Investigations at NBC Connecticut, where he supervised the station's investigative, consumer, and political reporting and managed its special projects. 

Mathew began his tenure at NBCUniversal as the health and medical producer for NBC Southern California and an investigative journalist in their award-winning I-Team unit, where he produced one of the most acclaimed investigative series in the station’s history, LA’s Nuclear Secret.

During his distinguished career, Matthew has developed and managed the production of several award-winning nationally syndicated television programs and political/public affairs shows. He has been instrumental in creating new storytelling strategies and techniques that have helped reinvent broadcast journalism, visual persuasion, and content marketing.

Matthew's accolades include a national SPJ Sigma Delta Chi Award, a national Edward R. Murrow Award, Regional Emmy Awards for Investigative Reporting, Outstanding Hard News Reporting, and Health/Science Reporting, two Associated Press Television Radio Association Awards, five Golden Mike Awards, the Jane Pauley Media Award, among others.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in public policy from Occidental College and his master's degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Southern California. In his free time, he enjoys nature photography and hiking.
